 Tribal leader says growth, not GATA, is his priority

Kalchini (Alipurduar), Dec. 18: Tribal leader John Barla today said his priority was to work for the development of the adivasis after a section of community leaders cut short his speech in a meeting and demanded that he should spell out concrete proposals.

Barla said working for the tribals now preceded his pursuing the formation of the Gorkha Adivasi Territorial Administration (GATA), a set-up that seeks to include the Dooars-Terai region in an arrangement for the hills.

The dissident leader’s announcement comes a day after he was expelled from Akhil Bharatiya Adivasi Vikas Parishad for batting for GATA without the state committee’s approval. Local leaders of the Parishad today confronted Barla at a meeting here and wanted to know what his priorities were.

A commotion among the 150 odd Parishad and tribal trade union members could be heard from outside the Kalchini Athletic hall club soon after Barla began to speak. The media had not been allowed inside. Barla was forced to stop. The sound system was then switched off and the meeting progressed till 4.20pm.

Sources in the meeting said angry Parishad members wanted to hear from Barla about a movement that would benefit the tribals. “We have to chalk out our priorities. What is the aim of the Parishad? Is it GATA? Or is it the Sixth Schedule? We have been fleeting from one issue to the other. The Gorkhas have struggled for years. Why should we give up our struggle so soon,” said a member of the Progressive Tea Workers’ Union, an affiliate of the Parishad.

After the meeting, Barla, told the media there was some confusion among the audience about the way the movement was going.

“I will now work solely for the development of the adivasis living in the Terai and the Dooars and not concentrate on GATA. On December 21, we will have a meeting at Banarhat where we will discuss how the PTWU would proceed.”

Asked why Barla was called to a Parishad meeting when he has been expelled, trade union leader Basant Bhagwar said it had been planned much earlier. “Besides, he is a trade union leader as well. He is the chairperson of the joint action committee of the trade union of the Parishad and the Morcha.”

“We had convened the meeting to discuss the manner in which the other trade unions (Citu, Intuc) are causing confusion among the garden workers and eroding our support base,” he said.

Earlier during the day Barla had told that he was “not bothered” about his expulsion. “I am feeling relaxed. I have no immediate plans to form a new organisation. I plan to go to Delhi in the first week of January and meet Somji Bhai Damor, the president of the Parishad’s central committee. I will apprise him of the ground reality in the Terai and the Dooars,” he said.

On Friday, some adivasi leaders of the Dooars had threatened to form a new wing of the Parishad if Barla was expelled. It would be named the North Bengal Adivasi Vikas Parishad, they had said.

165 SC/ST students vacate hostel alleging neglect

Rayagada: Alleging that they had been neglected by the authorities, 165 inmates of a government run “Sevasram” school in Maoist-affected and tribal-dominated Rayagada district of Odisha have left their hostel.

“All the 165 boy students of the Sevasram at Dangasurada under Chandrapur police station have left their hostel on Sunday evening. We are inquiring into the matter”, district welfare officer Damodar Meher said today.

Out of total 326 students, from class I to class X, in the school there were 205 boys and 121 girls. Of them, 165 boys and 100 girls were putting up in the school hostel.

With problems galore, the boarders alleged they had been writing to the authorities to solve their problems but they had fallen on deaf ears.

Apparently, peeved over the neglect, the students put up posters on the school walls and nearby places before leaving the hostel en masse.

Their problems included lack of sanitation and drinking water facility…

छठी अनुसूची से मिलेगा गोरखाओं को अधिकार

दार्जिलिंग,: गोरखा समुदाय को छठी अनुसूची के तहत अधिकार मिलेगा। गोरखालैंड स्थानीय प्रशासन (जीटीए)में गोरखाओं को अधिकार देने जैसी किसी बात का जिक्र नहीं है, लेकिन छठी अनुसूची में संवैधानिक अधिकार देने की बात है। इससे सभी लाभान्वित होंगे और इसे लागू कराया जाना चाहिए। इसके लिए केंद्र को पहल करने की आवश्यकता है। जीटीए में सिर्फ विकास की ही बात की गई है। यह बातें हिल्स के स्थानीय राजनीतिक दलों के वरिष्ठ नेताओं ने बातचीत में कही। सभी ने छठी अनुसूची के प्रति एकजुटता जाहिर की। अखिल भारतीय गोरखालीग प्रमुख भारती तमांग ने कहा कि जीटीए में संवैधानिक सुरक्षा की बात नहीं की गई है। इससे गोरखाओं को पहचान नहीं मिलेगी और उनकी समस्या का समाधान भी नहीं हो पाएगा। सिर्फ विकास की बातें करने से समुदाय का भला नहीं होगा। सबसे बड़ी बात यह है कि जीटीए को सरकार कभी भी भंग कर सकती है, लेकिन छठी अनुसूची में ऐसी बात नहीं है। माकपा दार्जिलिंग जिला कमेटी के सदस्य व वरिष्ठ नेता केवी वातर ने कहा कि छठी अनुसूची के आगे प्रस्तावित जीटीए फीका है। गोरखाओं को संवैधानिक अधिकार छठी अनुसूची से ही मिल पाएंगे। ऐसे में पहाड़ को वर्तमान में कोई ठोस व्यवस्था देने में जीटीए भी कारगर हो सकता है, लेकिन उसे संवैधानिक सुरक्षा दी जाए तो यह संभव है। पार्टी का सीधा कहना है कि गोरखाओं का हित होना चाहिए और उन्हें उनके अधिकार मिलने चाहिए। गोरामुमो के वरिष्ठ नेता भीम सुब्बा ने कहा कि जीटीए सरकार के अधीन रहने वाली व्यवस्था है। इसमें निर्णय वह सरकार के संस्तुति के बाद ही लिए जाएंगे, लेकिन छठी अनुसूची इससे अलग है। सही मायने में गोरखाओं को इसी से संवैधानिक सुरक्षा मिल सकती है। इसके लिए केंद्र सरकार से बातचीत की जा रही है।साभारदैनिकजागरण

पर्यटकों को भाने लगा डुवार्स

सिलीगुड़ी : दार्जिलिंग व सिक्किम के बाद अब देश-विदेश के पर्यटकों को डुवार्स भाने लगा है। डुवार्स के जंगलों में एलीफैंट सफारी का मजा लेने विदेशी पर्यटक भी गोरूमारा व जलदापाड़ा में आने लगे हैं। जलपाईगुड़ी जिला वन विभाग के अनुसार इस बार पिछले बार से काफी अधिक पर्यटक डुवार्स के जंगलों की सैर करनेवाले हैं। पिछले दो महीने में ही रिकॉर्ड पर्यटक यहां पहंुचे हैं। पिछले वर्ष अक्टूबर से जून तक 85 हजार पर्यटक डुवार्स की जंगलों की सैर करने आए थे। इस बार सिर्फ अक्टूबर व नवंबर महीने में ही इसके आधी से अधिक संख्या पार हो गई है। माना जा रहा है कि सब कुछ ठीक रहा तो इस बार जून तक डेढ़ लाख से अधिक पर्यटक डुवार्स की सैर करने आ सकते हैं। इस बार विदेशी पर्यटकों की संख्या भी बढ़ रही है। लाटागुड़ी समेत अन्य ग्रामीण इलाकों में विलेज टूरिज्म का मजा लेने के लिए आस्ट्रेलिया समेत कई जगहों के पर्यटक यहां आ रहे हैं। एलीफैंट सफारी के अलावा जंगल, चाय बागान व जंगली जीव को देखकर बाहर से आनेवाले पर्यटक काफी खुश हैं। क्रिस्टेफर नामक एक विदेशी पर्यटक ने बताया कि दार्जिलिंग व सिक्किम का नाम तो हमलोग जानते हैं। लेकिन डुवार्स के बारे में जानकारी नहीं थी। दो-तीन बार दार्जिलिंग जा चुका हूं। इस बार सिक्किम जाने का मन था, लेकिन भूकंप के कारण बुकिंग रद हो गई थी। यहां आने पर टूर ऑपरेटरों ने डुवार्स के बारे में जानकारी दी। अब लग रहा है कि ऐसे खूबसूरत जगह पर पहले क्यों नहीं आया। यहां एक साथ जंगल, पहाड़, नदियां, जंगली जीव, एलिफेंट सफारी, चाय बागान, विलेज टूरिज्म, प्राचीन जनजाति टोटो समुदाय को नजदिक से देखना वाकई में हमारे लिए काफी आनंद का क्षण रहा। इसके बारे में मैंने दोस्तों को भी बताया है और यहां घूमने आने की सलाह भी दी है।

Megalithic site at Chatra dates back to 3300 BC

Jaideep Deogharia, RANCHI: The megalithic site discovered on the outskirts of  Obra village in Chatra district has strong evidence to indicate that the civilization existed here since Chalcolithic period corresponding to a period of 3300-1200 BC (for India).

The revelation has come to light in the wake of digging going on for construction of village road and villagers coming across a huge stone piece, technically identified as menhir by archaeologists.

Barring the exception of Punkri Burwadih site of Hazaribag, which has scientifically been proven to date back to beyond 3000BC, most of the megalithic sites in Jharkhand were earlier considered to be belonging to the Iron Age.

Subhashis Das, a megalith expert who authored two books, said having failed to obtain the support from local archeological experts, he got the microliths obtained from Punkri Burwadih dated in the museum of Dresden, Germany, where the age of microliths was established to be beyond 3000BC.

“One of my friends Lydia Eckeshwalfe, the then director of anthropological section of Dresden Museum, visited unkri Burwadih and offered to take the microliths obtained from there for dating,” Das said stressing that age of microlith did not essentially reflect the age of megaliths unless the site was excavated scientifically.

Having recently discovered the site at Obra village in Chatra district, Das is no more interested in seeking help of the Archaelogical Survey of India (ASI) or the state government to conserve or develop them. “I have tried to educate the villagers about the importance of these sites to preserve them and getting in touch with professionals and researchers to carry out elaborate study,” he said, adding that the site was a primitive tribal memorial site having tall menhirs.

The site already destroyed by villagers with many tall menhirs being lugged away by them, the construction of road has come as a blow to the tribal heritage. “However, if the road construction has destroyed a few menhirs, it has also exposed a couple of burial urns of which one comprised Chalcolithic remains as copper slags, a ring and a small bell,” Das said implying that megaliths in Jharkhand have a continuity and indicate to the continuity of civilization here.

Archeological superintendent with the ASI’s Ranchi circle N G Nikoshey said Jharkhand was full of megalithic sites but they had not obtained any license to excavate those sites. “ASI Ranchi circle has recently been given a license to excavate the Itkhori site in Chatra and carry out exploration in Karbra Kala region of Palamu.” In total, 12 monuments in the state are being looked after by the ASI here.

Admitting that megaliths could be a source of historical information, Nikoshey said in the absence of scientific excavation the officially acceptable date for their age was around 7th century AD. “Some university or the state archeology department should come up with excavation license, only then the sites could be dated properly,” he said.

Das, however, stressed that megaliths being the oldest of the man-made relics of our country found in almost all states faced the threat of being gradually obliterated under the pressure of developmental process.

“In northeastern states like Meghalaya and some south Indian states, the megaliths have attracted attention of local government but we are yet to acknowledge the importance of tribal heritage in Jharkhand,” Das said.

Archaeological, historical and social importance of megaliths in Jharkhand could have remained ignored altogether by the state and the ASI till date but initiatives have been taken by the state archeological department.

Deputy director of the state archeology Amitava Kumar said 29 megalithic sites in Hazaribag have been identified to be taken up for conservation by the department under the 13th Finance Commission. “Detailed project report has been prepared for these sites and we are hopeful of taking other sites as well in due course of time,” he said.Courtesy:TheTimesofindia.

Barla and Toppo differ on Gata

Siliguri, Dec. 5: Difference of opinion has cropped up among the adivasi leaders over the formation of Gata, whose proposed jurisdiction covers both the hills and the Terai and Dooars.

A section of the tribals under John Barla want the Gorkhaland Territorial Administration or GTA meant for the hills to be formed first and its name changed later to Gata. They said the GTA jurisdiction could extend over the entire Dooars and the Terai and later amended to form the Gorkhaland Adivasi Territorial Administration (Gata).

But another faction of the Akhil Bharatiya Adivasi Vikas Parishad led by state general secretary Tezkumar Toppo wants an Adivasi Territorial Administration (ATA) to be formed first for the Dooars and the Terai. Later it could be merged with the GTA to form Gata.

“The Gorkha Janmukti Morcha will surely want to bring the Terai and the Dooars under the GTA and we, too, are eager to join them so that we can get more autonomy for the people of the Dooars and the Terai. But we have to look after our interests as well. We think the ATA should be formed with the entire Dooars and Terai where tribals are in majority just as the GTA will be formed with the three hill subdivisions,” said Toppo today.

Once both the bodies are formed, the boards running these autonomous set-ups can bring resolutions to converge the GTA and ATA, leading to the creation of Gata, Toppo said. “This would protect the interests of both sides.”

Both Barla and Toppo along with three others had been showcaused by the state committee of the Parishad for joining hands with the Morcha.

The Morcha and the Parishad yesterday decided to form joint committees to campaign for Gata.

Barla today said Toppo’s proposal for forming Gata was “impractical”.

“We should work only in the logical direction and should not speak or demand something impractical. The GTA should be formed with the Terai and the Dooars as its territory along with the hills. The GTA board can be amended to form Gata, encompassing the hills and the Terai and Dooars,” Barla said.

The Parishad-Morcha campaign has already started in the gardens of the Terai and the Dooars, he added.

Minister Gautam Deb, who had earlier said the government would not consider any fresh proposals like Gata, today said he was banking on Mamata Banerjee to bring peace to the region.

“If the chief minister can restore peace in Jungle Mahal, we are confident that she can curb any tension or grievance brewing in the hills or in the Terai and the Dooars,” he said. “Any party or organisation can raise any demand. These have not reached us in a formal manner.”Courtesy:TheTelegraph.

दार्जिलिंग-सिक्किम एकीकरण से गोरखाओं का होगा विकास

कर्सियांग,  : ऐतिहासिक दस्तावेज के आधार पर कई दिनों से दार्जिलिंग-सिक्किम एकीकरण की मांग की जा रही है। इसका उद्देश्य है कि गोरखाओं को उनका अधिकार मिल सके और वह समाज में अपने पहचान को बता सकें। यह बातें गोरखा राष्ट्रीय कांग्रेस केंद्रीय कमेटी के अध्यक्ष नीमा लामा ने बातचीत के दौरान कही। उन्होंने कहा कि दार्जिलिंग, तराई व डुवार्स को मिलाया जाए या यूनियन टेरिटोरी की मांग की जाए। लेकिन, गोरखाओं की पहचान का संकट बना रहेगा। हालांकि इसका गोरखा राष्ट्रीय कांगे्रस कोई विरोध नहीं करता है। उन्होंने बताया कि भूटिया, लेप्चा व नेपाली सिक्किम के प्रमुख नागरिक हैं। इन तीन जाति द्वारा समेटे गए सिक्किम का भू-भाग दार्जिलिंग तराई व डुवार्स में भी पड़ता है। इसलिए इन सभी क्षेत्रों को सिक्किम में शामिल करना ही गोरखा राष्ट्रीय कांग्रेस का प्रमुख लक्ष्य है। यह भी बताने की जरूरत नहीं है कि यह मांग ऐतिहासिक दस्तावेज के आधार पर की जा रही है। मुख्यमंत्री ने इसके लिए पूर्व श्वेत पत्र भी जारी कर दिया है। इसका प्रमाण सिक्किम के पुराने मानचित्र से भी स्पष्ट होता है। उन्होंने कहा कि 30 अप्रैल 1954 में दार्जिलिंग को एरिया एक्ट अंतर्गत बंगाल में रखा गया था, लेकिन इससे पहले दार्जिलिंग किस देश, राज्य या जिले में था, इसका प्रमाण भारत सरकार से पार्टी की ओर से आरटीआई के माध्यम से मांगा गया था। लेकिन इसका जवाब सही मायने में नहीं मिल पाया। दार्जिलिंग के भू-भाग का किराया सिक्किम सरकार ने 1947 साल तक लिया है। इसका प्रमाण उस समय की रसीद में भी स्पष्ट लिखा हुआ है। उन्होंने सवाल किया कि सिक्किम भारत का अभिन्न अंग है तो सिक्किम को भारतीय संविधान से बाहर 371 एक धारा लगाकर अलग क्यों किया गया है। इधर पश्चिम बंगाल सरकान ने वर्ष 1986 में एक श्वेत पत्र जारी कर बता दिया है कि दार्जिलिंग सिक्किम का भू-भाग है। पार्टी की एक मांग है कि दार्जिलिंग-सिक्किम एकीकरण हो और गोरखाओं को राष्ट्रीय स्तर पर पहचान मिले। पार्टी अन्य दलों की तरह ही गोरखा समुदाय के विकास की पक्षधर है और इसके लिए हर संभव प्रयास लगातार किया जा रहा है।साभार-दैनिकजागरण

- Hill outfit ready to give up half funds

Kumani (Kalimpong), Dec. 4: The Gorkha Janmukti Morcha and the Adivasis will form joint committees and campaign from tomorrow for Gata, a set-up that seeks to cover the Darjeeling hills and the Dooars and Terai.

The Morcha also said it was willing to spend 50 per cent of the Rs 200 crore that the Centre had promised to the GTA for the development of the Dooars and the Terai.

In a message to the state, the Morcha leadership said the government should chalk out a strategy that ensured peace and development in the hills as well as in the Terai and the Dooars.

Last week, north Bengal development minister Gautam Deb had said an agreement had already been reached with the Morcha and the government would not consider any fresh proposals like Gata.

But Morcha president Bimal Gurung and party general secretary Roshan Giri shared the dais with Akhil Bharatiya Adivasi Vikas Parishad leaders here today to pitch their support for a Gorkha Adivasi Territorial Administration (Gata).

After the meeting at the forest grounds here, Gurung told reporters that changing the name of the Gorkhaland Territorial Administration (GTA) to Gata will not be a problem.

“Once the governor gives his assent to the GTA Bill, we will sit together with the Centre and the state and the name will be changed (to Gata). That will not be a problem,” Gurung said.

He said the Gata would address the condition of the minorities in the region. “We are in touch with the Muslims and their development issues will be taken up by Gata.” Yesterday the Dooars Millat-e-Islamia had raised the demand to change the name of GATA to Gorkha Adivasi Muslim Territorial Administration.

The campaign for Gata will start tomorrow. On Tuesday, a meeting will be held to form joint co-ordination committees across the region. “On December 10, we will hold rallies across the area from the Sankosh to Phansidewa for Gata,” the Morcha president said. While the River Sankosh in Jalpaiguri district marks one end of the Dooars, Phansidewa in Darjeeling marks the extreme Terai end.

Gurung said the Sankosh-Phansidewa rally has been deliberately planned ahead of the December 15 meeting of the territorial committee headed by Justice (retired) Shyamal Sen.

The Justice Sen panel had been tasked to look into an earlier Morcha demand that the Gorkha dominated areas of the Dooars and the Terai be made part of the GTA. People from the region had made submissions before the panel on if they wanted to join the GTA or not.

Asked what would happen to the panel, Giri who is a member, said: “Let the government do its work but it should realise what is required to be done for the peace and development of the hills and the plains. There is no barrier in the inclusion of the Terai and the Dooars in the new set-up.”

Giri underscored the importance of the Parishad in the proposed Gata. “The deputy chairperson of Gata will be from the Parishad and we will spend half of the Rs 200 crore promised initially by the Centre for the development of Adivasi-dominated areas. We will also have Gata branch offices throughout the region,” Giri said.

नागराकाटा–: जॉन बारला नहीं, बल्कि विगत 18 अक्टूबर को पहली बार नई दिल्ली में गोजमुमो नेतृत्व के साथ आविप नेताओं की जो बैठक हुई थी उसमें बिरसा तिर्की भी मौजूद थे। सिब्चू के कुमानी में रविवार को आयोजित एक संयुक्त सभा को संबोधित करते हुए गोजमुमो प्रमुख विमल गुरूंग ने उक्त खुलासा किया। उन्होंने कहा कि उस बैठक में जीटीए पर बातचीत हुई थी। बैठक में जॉन बारला के अलावा पीटीडब्लूयू के अध्यक्ष सुकरा मुंडा भी थे। उधर, आविप के राज्य अध्यक्ष बिरसा तिर्की ने कहा कि यह सही है कि बैठक में वह शामिल थे। लेकिन जीटीए के प्रस्ताव पर उनकी सहमति नहीं थी। रविवार को जीएलपी के मैदान में संयुक्त जनसभा में गोजमुमो के महासचिव रोशन गिरि, प्रचार सचिव और कालिम्पोंग के विधायक डा. हर्क बहादुर छेत्री, ट्रेड यूनियन नेता पीटी शेर्पा के अलावा आविप नेता जॉन बारला, सुकरा मुंडा, पारस नाथ बराइक, घुरन उरांव उपस्थित रहे। इस संयुक्त जनसभा को संबोधित करते हुए दोनों ही संगठनों के अध्यक्षों ने घोषणा की कि छह दिसंबर को प्रत्येक चाय बागान में दोनों संगठनों की संयुक्त समन्वय समिति गठित कर घर घर संयुक्त प्रचार किया जाएगा। दस दिसंबर को संकोश से फांसीदेवा तक जीएटीए के समर्थन में रैली की जाएगी। विमल गुरूंग ने संवाददाता के एक प्रश्न के उत्तर में कहा कि जीएलपी का मैदान ऐतिहासिक स्थल है जहां विगत आठ फरवरी को शिब्चू में गोजमुमो के लोकतांत्रिक आंदोलन पर पुलिस ने गोली चलाई थी। उसमें उनके तीन समर्थक मारे गए थे। उसी ऐतिहासिक दिन की याद में यह जनसभा की गई है। उन्होंने कहा कि उनकी पीपीपी के साथ भी बैठक हुई है। उन्हें अब जीएटीए का विरोध बंद कर देना चाहिए। बहुत तकलीफ से दोनों समुदायों के बीच सेतु तैयार हुआ है। इस सेतु को तोड़ने का प्रयास होगा। इससे सतर्क रहना होगा। अब जॉन बारला और सुकरा मुंडा को दोष देने से कोई लाभ नहीं है। कोलकाता और दिल्ली में बैठकर जीएटीए का विरोध करने वाले नेताओं को निकाल बाहर करना होगा। डीएमआइ के गामटा नामकरण प्रस्ताव पर इनसे बातचीत चल रही है। उन्होंने कहा कि हम डुवार्स-तराइ के मामले में दखल नहीं देंगे। यहां के विकास का पूरा दायित्व जॉन बारला निभाएंगे। रोशन गिरि ने कहा कि जीटीए पर प्रस्ताव विधान सभा में पारित हो गया है। अब केवल राष्ट्रपति के अनुमोदन की जरूरत है। उसके बाद ही जीटीए की बैठक होगी। बाद में जीएटीए के नामकरण को लेकर बैठक होगी। जीएटीए की मूल कमेटी के उप प्रधान डुवार्स-तराइ क्षेत्र से होंगे। केंद्र सरकार द्वारा जीटीए के लिए आवंटित दो सौ करोड़ रुपए का पचास प्रतिशत इसी क्षेत्र के लिए खर्च होगा। डुवार्स-तराइ में जीटीए की शाखा खुलेगी। डा. हर्क बहादुर छेत्री ने कहा कि मोर्चा के गठन के चार साल की सबसे बड़ी उपलब्धि दोनों संगठनों का एकजुट होना है। इस एकजुटता से कोलकाता चिंतित है। कोलकाता और दिल्ली हमारे बीच फूट पैदा करने की कोशिश कर रहे हैं। मुख्यमंत्री ममता बनर्जी के प्रति हमारी आस्था है। भूकंप के दौरान उन्होंने जो समर्थन दिखाया उससे उम्मीद बंधती है। सुकरा मुंडा ने कहा कि नेपाली और आदिवासी समुदाय चाय बागान क्षेत्र में लंबे अरसे से वंचित हैं। इसीलिए जीएटीए का गठन जरूरी था। जॉन बारला ने कहा कि अलग अलग आंदोलन के चलते दोनों संगठन में एका हुई है। संयुक्त संगठन होने से कोलकाता और दिल्ली का सिर घुम गया है। उन्हें राजनैतिक रूप से समाप्त करने की साजिश आदिवासी समाज के भीतर से हो रही है। एटीए को लेकर अलग से कमेटी गठित होगी। यह एकता सभी समुदायों के विकास के हित को ध्यान में रखकर की गई है। किसी को कोई शिकायत हो तो उनसे संपर्क कर सकता है। इस बाबत आविप के राज्य अध्यक्ष बिरसा तिर्की ने कहा कि यह सही है कि बीते 17 अक्टूबर को दिल्ली में जॉन बारला और सुकरा मुंडा के अनुरोध पर उन्होंने भी बैठक में भाग लिया था। लेकिन उन्होंने जीएटीए के प्रस्ताव को अस्वीकार किया था। उन्होंने सवाल किया कि श्रमिक संगठन होकर सुकरा मुंडा किस हैसियत से राजनैतिक मसले को लेकर आंदोलन में शामिल होंगे ?साभारदैनिकजागरण
