Varavara Rao bats for tribals

HYDERABAD, JUNE 29, 2012, The  Revolutionary Democratic Front, led by civil rights activist P Varavara Rao, has condemned death of 23 adivasi’s in a CRPF encounter in the Chintalnar forest of Chattishgarh’s Bijapur district .

In a statement issued at Hyderabad, Varavara Rao said the attacks were part of the Centre’s Green Hunt campaign to eliminate the tribal population, as the state government was “in collusion with big industry led by Tata, Posco, Essar and Vedanta groups.” He further said the military have occupied 1,100 acres of tribal land in Chattihsgarh for setting up permanent training centres.

“In the name of Vijay and Haka operations, the military has been driving away tribals from fertile lands to make room for the big industries,” Rao said.Courtesy:DeccanHerald.
