MYSORE: Hundreds of villagers, well-wishers and friends paid their last respects to Rajesh, Kannada actor and reality show winner, at his home town in Heggadadevana Kote taluk on Monday.
He was laid to rest next to his house at Balle Haadi (tribal settlement) in Nagarahole national park. He leaves behind parents, two sisters and his wife.
Rajesh died after falling from the terrace on to the pointed railings at his rented residence in Mysore on Sunday. He breathed his last before being taken to a hospital.
Mystery shrouded his death as police are not ruling out possibility of suicide. Bereavement, sympathy and emotions swirled around as hundreds of people witnessed the burial around 3 pm.
His parents Lakshmamma and Krishnaapp were inconsolable.
Actor Aishwarya, who acted with Rajesh in Kannada Movie ‘Jungle Jackie’ was present.
Director of Rajesh’s upcoming movie ‘Love is poison’ Nandan Prabhu and producer Somashekar, JD(S) leader Shivanna too visited the haadi.
Earlier, the body of Rajesh, who shot to fame after emerging victorious in a television reality show, kept for public viewing at his rented house at Parasaiahana Hundi, Heggadadevana Kote taluk headquarters, Antharasanthe, before taking to his native Balle on Sunday.
Villagers have fond memories of Rajesh who made the haadi popular. An eerie silence descended on the village as his body arrived at the hamlet, which has some 100 houses.
Somashekar said the movie (Love is Poison) is expected to be released in January 2014.
