A lot of allegations of corruption have been levelled against Mr. Madhu Koda, the former chief minister of Jharkhand. Other tribal ministers are also facing same kind of charges. Mr. Enos Ekka is presently under judicial arrest, Mr. Bandhu Tirkey and Mr Madhu Koda are about to face same kind of arrest. There are allegations that thousand of crores of rupees have been siphoned by these tribal politicians.
The Jharkhandi tribal society is struck dump and unable to make a clear opinion about these politicians. These politicians have amassed millions of rupees and invested that ill-gotten money with the help of non Adivasis in different places, cities and even in foreign countries if the allegations are true. The faiths reposed upon them have already been shattered. Through the election they won Adivasi faith and confidence, and finally they encashed it for their personal benefits. They have sold-out their soul and handed over the Adivasi interest and future to non Adivasis hands. The Adivasis have become the victims of cheating and deception by their own privileged brothers.
These politician promised Adivasis of the entire universe. They pledged to enhance society’s living standard through development projects and schemes. However, they were busy in their own personal development. In this process they sold out many Adivasi dreams to the corrupt bureaucrats, contractors, industrialists. They sold out the future of Adivasis children. They did nothing concrete for Adivasi language, culture, land, identity, education, infrastructures, road, hospital, electricity etc. however, they excelled in corruption, making entire society fools.
After getting a new state for their future and also their own brothers as torch bearers politicians, the Adivasis society had dreamed to get the real democracy, self rules and self reliance in their social life through their own people, who know the real problems of society. They had expectation to get good and standard schools for their children. Good roads, electricity, hospital, better medical facilities at their localities. There was a long list of expectations. Cooperative society for getting fair price for agriculture produce was not a distance dream. Employment for youth at the local self govt. institution was there on this list. They had expectation to ride off the exploitation of tribal society upto some extend. They wanted to bring some kind of entrepreneurship in the society through their own people’s initiative. They had expectation that tribal language schools and related development will open the gate for employment and development. They had hope that some kind of irrigation schemes will benefit their seasonal income. Food and processing industries will provide some kind of employments and income. However, every dream was sunk in the greedy ocean of our own politicians. Our own brothers who became leaders of society were busy in corruption. The money they got were not their. After thorough investigations and judicial judgement it may not be theirs for anymore. Every single rupee might be forfeited by the govt. If somehow they will manage to save some money, the major part will be grabbed by those middlemen who inspired and misguided them to be corrupt. Presently they are facing arrests. If put behind bar, their name, fame and confidence will be sunk for forever. They have lost the faith society conferred them. They have lost the moral ground to call themselves to be brother and friend of Adivasi society. Adivasi society has suffered a lot for last many centuries, now it wants to overcome from every malady and solely depends upon its own sons and daughters for development. When these loyal sons and daughters deceit its own mother-society, then faith and confidence shattered like anything.
Society gave them a chance to serve society. It also gave them an opportunity to display its wits and mind power for social development. However, these politicians have not held their promise of development and brotherhood. The societies have lost confidence on its own brothers.
Given the present situations and facts, there will be paradigm changes in the social thinking of Adivasis. The faith and confidence will be lost from the common people and nobody will be ready to accept anybody as their social or real leader. That will be an unfortunate era.
